The mission of the Adams County Economic Education Foundation is to bring together schools, business, and community partners to strengthen a school to career system which supports development of students equipped with knowledge, skills, and attitudes to compete successfully in the dynamic work economy.
Collectively the programs coordinated through the ACEEF have served over 30,000 students in Adams County schools since the inception of the partnership. These programs are not possible without the generous monetary donations from many businesses and individuals in Adams County along with countless volunteer hours donated by many in the community. ACEEF is successful because of cooperation between the education and business communities that share the vision of producing educated, capable community leaders of the future.
This program, supported by the Dwight D. Eisenhower Society, provides a $500 cash award to High School Seniors from each of the six school districts who show the most improvement during their senior year in grades, attendance, behavior, effort and service to others. The students are given the opportunity to sign up for the program at the beginning of the school year. In the spring the students must submit two letters of recommendation and a written statement on why they should be selected. There are also four awards of $100 each that are awarded at each of the six area high schools. Typically, the recipients of these awards have never been recognized for their efforts in a public forum before.
. The Career Fair is held for the benefit of all tenth grade students attending any school in Adams County. All six school districts attend this event. Over 60 careers are presented by local business people to give the students an understanding of different career choices. Each student is able to attend three presentations of their choosing. While also taking advantage of a college campus visit and hearing about career opportunities, the program can help students who are interested in job shadowing or internships too.
The Adams County Economic Education Foundation serves as the Grant Consultant to the Advisory Committee of the Robert C. Hoffman Charitable Endowment Trust.
